Dubrovnik Croatia – Old Town 2021
June 25, 2021Hvar Town Croatia A Must See Island!
Explore authentic Hvar Croatia in Hvar Town as rarely witnessed with our American Travel Family Vlog! We made it to the beautiful island of Hvar and were one of the only American families there. It was one of our favorite places in Croatia! We love the water, and this fantastic island is surrounded by some of the most beautiful seas in the world!
The Adriatic seawater was clear and warm. It was a little rough our first couple of days there due to a storm, but it made walking the coast promenade very fun and exciting. The waves were literally crashing over the limestone promenade and covering us in a foot or more of water. We had a beautiful AirBnB overlooking the Hvar Town harbor and the fortress overlooking the city. Many of the homes in Hvar are built up the hill away from the port, and our apartment was a steep climb up about 280 steps, but it was worth the fantastic views.
We could see the Pakleni Islands off in the distance and were treated with amazing rainbows over the harbor! Seriously, no photoshop! Like most towns in Croatia, we were able to walk everywhere. The beach, shops, restaurants, cafes, the main square, and miles of coastline promenade were easily accessible by foot.
We spent our days exploring the Adriatic coastline and taking dips in the warm, clear Adriatic.
We hiked to the Spanish Fortress for incredible views overlooking Hvar town and once again enjoyed exceptional coastal cuisine, bars, and cafes. Everyone in Croatia is so friendly! We befriended many locals, and one gentleman in Hvar Town let us rent their boat! When we arrived, we had no idea what we were getting, and we were somewhat surprised with the small dingy we got, lol! After the basics, we were off on our own across the narrow channel to explore all the Pakleni Islands.
The Pakleni islands are very popular for sailing in Croatia, with amazing beaches and ports. We made our way past a super mega yacht which we later learned was Mark Zuckerberg's!
Nevertheless, we had a fantastic day on the beautiful Adriatic, exploring and swimming wherever we could dock! At the end of the day, we made it safely back and enjoyed our late afternoon aperitivo hour watching all the big boats dock off the promenade.
Hvar is a must-visit in Croatia. Hvar Town is a beautiful island with so much to offer. There is also a pretty vibrant nightlife if you’re traveling without kids! Our whole family had such a great time here, and Hvar is one of the most beautiful islands we have traveled to! Subscribe to Escaping The Bubble and join our adventures in Hvar and beyond!
Watch your step in Croatia!
Get a chuckle as our Travel Family spoofs the excruciating steps in old town Hvar Croatia. Along the way will show you what's involved in getting to our centrally located Airbnb apartment in Old Town Hvar. If there's one takeaway from this video, it's to check with your vacation booking agent on how many steps are involved in getting from your apartment to the city center promenade in Hvar Town. Steps are common throughout Croatia. I would HIGHLY advise asking the same question for other Croatian towns as well. If you have toddlers, bad legs, or mobility issues, this video could save your vacation!
