What’s better San Pancho or Sayulita Mexico?

We're answering the hot new question “Is San Pancho better than Sayulita?” As an added bonus we also compare it to Puerto Vallarta. But first, where is San Pancho? On a map, it is shown as San Francisco, Nayarit, a town situated on the central Pacific coast of Mexico about 1 hour north of Puerto Vallarta and a 10-minute drive from Sayulita. San Pancho is a quiet little boho surf town just off the beaten path!

The question should not be whether San Pancho or Sayulita is better, but which one is right for you!

San Pancho has great restaurants, cafes, shops, and a beach with a great surf break and best of all – there are no crowds! We explore the town, beach, and the Tuesday “Hippie” market with local crafts, food, and music. We loved this quaint surf town and friendly “old school” vibes.

Best Overall Excursion

Hands down our favorite excursion is Ally Cat Sailing Adventures to the Marieta Islands. This is a great day excursion for the whole family! Snorkeling, swimming, and fun times playing on and off the boat! However, the best thing about this trip was the crew! They made everything so much fun and additionally, the food and drinks were above average, yum! They are very popular and spots fill up fast. Booking in advance is highly advised.

Best Land Based Excursion near San Pancho

We zipline through 13 lines above the jungle in Sayulita, Mexico with Mi Chaparrita tours. The views above and through the jungle were excellent! They provide transportation to and from your location as well! They also offered other activities like horseback riding and ATV rides. Check out our full video for an inside look.

Mercado San Pancho is San Panchos Farmers and Cultural Market, located in plaza del sol., the main plaza every Tuesday from 10 am to 1:30 pm, Green environment, food, handicrafts, and live music!
Boutiques – Many small boutiques are dotted along the main street called Av. Tercer Mundo. Playa San Pancho beach is also at the end of Av. Tercer Mundo. Walk around and explore the boutiques, have lunch then head to the beach for the perfect slow-paced day
